For six months in the winter 30-35 horses are kept in Tampa. The weather is more temperate than South Florida, but still allows for daily grazing and turnout. The mile track is a deep, sandy dirt surface. This helps establish fitness after coming back from a layoff. The barn area is open and generally quiet. Throughout the backside there are areas for grazing and trail rides. The horses have access to eight round pens, two of which are on the grass. As a whole, Tampa is a very relaxed environment, which allows our horses to thrive.
Santa Anita Park & Del Mar
Santa Anita Park is our California home from September-July each year, and it is the main hub of the Southern California racing circuit. We have a nice open toe ring with a grazing area and a sand pit for rolling, and we take all the horses out each afternoon to enjoy some extra sunshine. Santa Anita has a dirt training track and a main track, which is a 1 mile dirt surface, as well as an inner turf course.
Del Mar is the summer spot for our California string. Horses head down to Del Mar in July and stay until just after Labor Day weekend. There is a constant sea breeze, which makes for some cool mornings. The weather is great for the horses, as well as the people. Like Keeneland, Del Mar is a particularly fun and exciting place for owners to come enjoy their horses. They have a dirt training track, a main Polytrack, and an inner turf course. We are also able to keep 4-6 horses outside in covered outdoor stalls. It relaxes a lot of horses and they do quite well out of the barn.
Fair Hill Training Center
During the summer months, we make Fair Hill Training Center our base for East Coast racing. Fair Hill offers a central location to run at tracks from Maryland to New York, as well as a phenomenal facility at which to train horses: a one-mile all weather dirt track, a 7/8 mile Tapeta track, a 7/8 mile turf course, fields in which to hack, turn out paddocks, round pens, and a cold salt hydrotherapy Equine Spa.
The stable is kept at Keeneland during the months of April and October, during the race meetings. We are able to train on the Polytrack surface at both the main track and the 5/8ths training track. Keeneland is a very active race meeting and it’s a great place for owners to come out and enjoy both the training and the racing.
We typically keep 18-30 horses at Churchill from April until November. Churchill provides a mile dirt track with an inner turf course. Stabling in Louisville means we can race at Churchill during the meet and ship to multiple locations when there is no live racing. Surrounding tracks include Keeneland, Ellis Park, Kentucky Downs, Arlington Park and Indiana Downs.
